Shortcut To A Dream

One reason I trained as a coach is because I wanted to take the mystery out of the process of making dreams come true.

*

I’m not saying that the path to what you want is going to be an easy one, and I’m not saying that it won’t take you through some pretty interesting twists and turns on the way (if you’re really lucky, it will).  What I am saying is that it doesn’t have to be complicated.  Unfortunately, a lot of the “find your dream” information that’s out there just now is far more esoteric than it needs to be.  It can leave you feeling that unless you have it in you to meditate yourself into a state of permanent serenity, or positive-think yourself into a life of total achievement, or cosmically order yourself into untold wealth – there’s no hope for you.

*

Well, there is hope.  No matter where you are right now, no matter what mood you find yourself in, and no matter whether or not you think your dream is realistic or quite unattainable – you can get to where you want to be.

*

There are three basic stages to this: First, figure out what you want.  Then, figure out how to get what you want.  And finally, figure out how to get past the obstacles and resistance you’re certain to meet along the way.

*

“What – that’s it? That’s about as much help as motivational slogan on a lollipop stick!”  Don’t worry, dear reader – I’m not going to leave you high and dry with a nice little pep talk, full of bravado and no substance.  I have something far more practical to offer.  Here’s a short guide to getting from “here” to “there”:  some steps that flesh out the three-stage process I’ve described above.  Just click on the links for a more detailed description of each element.

*

It’s my experience that the more of these steps my clients are able and willing to implement consistently, the quicker they get to where they’re going (and it works for me, too).

*

Step 1: Getting To Know You.

You don’t have to change yourself to change your life – you’re perfect as you are.  You just have to get to know yourself a bit better, and start building your life around the things you love .  It’s time to let your genius out of the bottle!

*

Step 2: Preparing For Lift Off.

How to clear some space in your personal environment , your brain and your schedule – because you’re going to need some free time to start working on your dream.  Plus – how to find all the motivation you’ll ever need to move yourself forward.

*

Step 3: Launching That Dream.

Not sure where to start? Sometimes, our dreams hide in plain sight.  Here’s how to find them.  And remember – no goal is ever too small, as long as it’s your own.  Whatever you choose to do with your life, don’t worry about getting all the details “just so” before you start.  Get into action, and you’ll soon discover all that you need to know – and never, ever be afraid to change direction if you need to.

*

Step 4: Don’t Go It Alone.

Whatever it is you’re trying to do, you deserve all the support you can get.  With structure, encouragement, and – perhaps most importantly – accountability, who’s to stop you?  Here’s how to enlist some help from outside – and from within.  I know I’m biased, but you might find that hiring a coach helps, too.

*

Step 5: How To Weather The Storms.

Following your dreams is unlikely to be plain sailing.  Not to worry – there are things you can do, even when the waters get choppy.  There are solutions to get you unstuck, whether you’re putting off getting started, or bumping into barriers on the way.  Feeling scared?  It’s natural.  Don’t fight your fear – listen to it, and discover the message it’s sending you.  There’s valuable information in there!

*

So, there you have it - a shortcut to a dream.  Follow these steps, and see your dearest wish emerge, bit by bit, from the shadows.  Here’s to it - enjoy it, and the process of getting there!

Hi Lesley – nice to see you here! You don’t need saving; no-one does…but sometimes our dreams & wishes need a bit of a dusting off.
