WHAT IS COACHING?
Coaching is an action-orientated, future-focused partnership between you, the client, and me, your coach. You will set the agenda as we work together to help you chart a course to a compelling future.
I will support and encourage you as you take steps to decide what you want to achieve in your career, business, relationships, health, finances – in fact any area of your life. We will work together to ensure you are able to take the necessary action to achieve what you want, and to tackle any obstacles you may encounter.
WHAT’S DIFFERENT ABOUT COACHING?
The key differences between coaching and other forms of support you can seek (e.g. counselling, psychotherapy, mentoring, etc.) are that:
You set the agenda. You’re the best person to judge what’s right for you, and I’ll work with you to help you find your way to your own solutions. You will determine what we work on at any given time. Don’t worry if you don’t know where to start – I can help you decide that, too.
It’s forward-looking. A coaching session is not a ‘talking shop’, or about dwelling on the past. I’ll expect you to take action in order to move towards your goals (and will help, support, and encourage you every step of the way). I come from a position of believing that everything you need to move forward is available to you right here, right now. If you’re ready and willing to do something to improve your current situation – coaching could be exactly what you’re looking for.
It’s very flexible. We can work on as few or as many areas of your life as you like. The time it takes to work through a coaching topic varies from one or two sessions, to a longer programme of several sessions, and I have several great value coaching packages available to suit your individual requirements.
Increased Clarity: particularly in situations where you currently feel unsure of what “next step” to take.
Improved Decision-Making: helping you to find the best state of mind in which to make decisions, so you can feel more confident about your choices.
Goal-Oriented: enabling you to establish the best strategies to achieve what you want.
Structure, Accountability & Support: in addition to a supportive environment which can help you move safely out of your normal comfort zone, you’ll have a sense of accountability to your coach, and most importantly, to yourself. This will help you move forward at a radically improved rate.
Motivation: help to establish and practise your own individually-tailored motivation techniques so that you maintain action where previously you may have given up.
HOW IT WORKS
Sessions usually last for up to 1 hour, and are usually conducted over the telephone – so they are available to you, wherever you’re based.
Having a series of coaching sessions is ideal because this enables you to build up momentum to be empowered to continue with your action plans after the coaching sessions finish. Booking a series of 4-6 coaching sessions is a good starting point. However, some people like to see whether coaching is for them and so one-off ‘taster’ sessions can be arranged. And you’re always entitled to a free, no obligation conversation with me first, to determine whether coaching could be for you.
Email support is provided between sessions, for the duration of any agreed programme of sessions.
Getting Started: To begin with, we’ll examine where you are in relation to topic being discussed and we’ll determine what you want, before constructing our coaching agreement. We’ll clarify your long-term objectives, and any short to medium-term milestones. We’ll look at specific goals to focus on in the initial session(s) and we’ll agree what actions you need to take and preparations you need to make before the next session.
Focus & Progress: In each session, we’ll examine the reality of the situation requiring change. We’ll generate a wide range of options for you (you’ll be surprised how many there are!), and help you decide which ones to choose, discuss what resources are available to you to help you move forward, and create a practical, achievable – and enjoyable – plan of action.
Review & Re-Focus: Towards the end of your programme of sessions, we’ll review your progress and examine the outcomes of our work together, and consider any relevant next steps. We’ll work out how you can maintain the support systems you’ll have built for yourself, or if there’s anything else you’d like to work on through coaching.
